A tale of two Saabs!

Post by Alex »

I was off work last week - so spent the first few days doing the annual maintenance on the glider, then had a spare day ... and both mine and my Dad's cars were at home, so it was valeting time!

Here's how they were before:

And a list of what I did:

Inside:
Interiors vacuumed throughout
Carpets cleaned (Simoniz carpet and upholstery cleaner)
Leather seats cleaned/treated (Autoglym leather care)
Dashboard/Door cards cleaned with vinyl cleaner and shined up (Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber shine)
Glass, rear view mirror and displays cleaned (Autoglym Fast Glass)
Floor mats cleaned and treated (Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber shine)
"New car" air freshener applied

Outside:
Wheel arches power washed to remove mud
Alloy wheels and brake calipers cleaned (Autoglym Clean wheels)
Tyres dressed (Big shiner tyre dressing, gloss finish)
Bodywork and glass hand washed and dried, didn't get round to polish unfortunately! (Washed with Meguiar's soft wash gel)
Exterior glass cleaner applied (Autoglym Fast Glass)
Rain-X coating applied
Wax coating applied to paint (Meguiar's Cleaner Wax)

Seats and carpet done:

Not so many pictures of doing the outside i'm afraid - cameras and water don't mix! :

Two shiny Saab's :emoji2: I do a lot more miles so Dad's car has been cleaner for longer - within a week mine was looking messy again! But planning to polish today xD

Was most pleased with how the interior of the NG93 came up - like a new car after a couple of hours work!

Thanks guys! I love the NG's interior too, especially at night! Sadly mine is starting to look a bit tired ... 162,000 miles takes its toll! I think a proper steam clean of the carpet and some new mats would help - i can't find any genuine Saab rubber mats for mine unfortunately, carpet just gets muddy this time of year!

Happy to do some more videos - what do you have in mind? :D

Great job Alex, both cars look spotless! :D
As for videos, I really enjoyed the ones you made when you did that road trip to Geneva :D I like roadtrips generally, so any driving will do! :emoji38:

You can rent one of these:

Extractor. Injects a cleaning solution into the carpet and sucks it out again. Real deep and thorough cleaning. I own a extractor, this one:

Will upload an interior detail this afternoon, so you can see what you can achieve with one of these things.
